Editing Agreements

By contacting LKJ Books regarding one of our services, you state that you have read and will agree by the following--as relevant to the service you are purchasing.

Contact Mia: mia@lkjbooks.com

  • The total cost of the project shall be agreed upon between editor and client before work begins. If after the work has begun, the editor assesses a need for further fees, LKJ Books will contact the author to discuss this and all available options until an equitable decision is reached. Payments shall be divided into two, the first of which is due when the manuscript is delivered and the second upon return of the completed work. At Mia and LKJ Books' discretion, total costs over $300 can be broken into three or four payments. These terms will be discussed and agreed upon prior to work beginning.
  • If a client decides to cancel an agreement, refunds shall be given on the following basis: if work has not begun, the full initial payment will be refunded; if the work has begun, the partially edited manuscript will be returned to the client and a refund issued based upon the work that was done. Refunds are minus the PayPal fee accrued during the transaction.
  • If after a project is completed, the client is dissatisfied with the work done, the client may contain Mia and LKJ Books to discuss greivances and determine an equitable resolution. Refunds will not be issued, but a full or partial extra proofread may be given for free or at a discount--at Mia and LKJ Books' discretion.
  • LKJ Books will not be held liable for incidental, indirect, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary damages of any kind, including loss of revenue or profits, loss of business or reputation, or loss of data, in any way related to our services. LKJ Books is not responsible for any claim, loss, or injury based on errors or any other inaccuracies appearing on our site or in our clients' written documents, including without limitation as a result of breach of these terms and conditions.
  • By contacting us, you are accepting these terms and conditions without the need for a signed document.
